Being funny can be a mix of natural ability and learned skills. To become funnier, one can study comedic timing, practice joke delivery, and observe humorous individuals. Developing wit, observing comedic techniques, and experimenting with different forms of humor can also help enhance one's ability to be funny.
 
I think it is a natural ability. Either you're born with it or you're not. When someone is trying to hard to be funny it becomes apparent and awkward.
