Beauty or meaning?

Should art be judged by its beauty or by its meaning?

How do you judge art?

Obviously the answer is both!

I judge by beauty more ....unless the meaning of the piece has been explained to me.

I'm pretty uneducated about art and for me it's all about beauty. If the meaning is obvious - great, but otherwise

I do not see beauty in art that does not have any meaning and likewise, I do not see meaning in art that does not have beauty. When it comes to judging art pieces, I see that beauty and meaning are very synonymous.
